Missing My Baby
by Nicole

Cordelia sat in her room in a funk. It had been two days since Buffy left to go visit her father in Spain. She wouldn't be returning until it was almost time for college. Cordelia had her qualms about staying in Sunnydale and going to UC Sunnydale. But she couldn't stand the fact of being away from Buffy. She turned on her CD player, and laid down on the bed. She and Buffy spent a lot of time on her bed holding each other, and many other things that would make people blush. She couldn't hold back the smile when a familiar song played.

Sometimes at night when I go to sleep
I hold my pillow tight,
Thinking of you 'til is hurts
But in my mind, I know you're mine
and somewhere you're thinking of me too

I miss you, thinking of you
You're always on my mind

She thought about the first time she and Buffy heard this song. They were at the Bronze after Angel had broken her heart. She knew how deeply she loved him, but it could never be. Inside she was doing a little dance; she now had a chance at Buffy. So when this song came on to everyone's surprise she asked Buffy to dance. Buffy took her hand and they went out to the dance floor.

You're always on my mind, (day and night) day and night
When I think of you, everything feels so right
Well I often think of the happy times we spent together
And I just can't wait to tell you that I love you

Time keeps passing by, (you're not here) you're not here
I feel so all alone when I don't have you near
But I often think of the happy times we spent together
And I just can't wait (just can't wait) to tell you that I love you

That night was the start of something new. She had always been attracted to her since the first day they met. Even though she ditched her for the loser squad that was Harris and Rosenberg. She eventually got over it, and started hanging with them even if it was just to be around Buffy. Things between them had been shaky at first with the disaster that was Angel, but they found their way.

I'm missing my baby, missing my baby (missing my baby)
I gotta hold you tight, and never let you out of my sight
Missing my baby, (missing my baby) missing my baby (I miss you)
I gotta feel your heart beat (your heart beat) next to mine
Gotta feel it (feel it)

There was looks stolen kisses and little notes in the locker. It was so sweet but yet so corny. She enjoyed the time they spent together in and out of school. Buffy would come sit on the bleachers and watch her practice. She just wanted to see her in her uniform. God how she missed that girl.

Time keeps passing by, (time keeps passing by) you're not here
I feel so all alone when I don't have you near (thinking of you)
But I often think of the happy times we spent together
And I just can't wait to tell you that I love you

She held her pillow tightly in her arms thinking it was Buffy. She remembered the first time they actually told each other that they loved each other. It was when she came back from the summer before junior year. Buffy was in quite a funk over her grandmothers death. Buffy was lashing out at anyone and everyone dancing with Xander all sexily to get back at her. Cordelia being the ever so tactless one went out and told her a thing or two about herself. They fell into a hug and a kiss, the moment felt right and they loved each other. This delighted Cordelia to no end.

I'm missing my baby, missing my baby (missing my baby)
I gotta hold you tight, and never let you out of my sight
Missing my baby, missing my baby (I miss you)
I gotta feel your heart beat (your heart beat) next to mine

Oh how she missed Buffy, she was only gone for two days and already she's behaving like a love sick puppy. She had a grin, when they told everyone that they were a couple. They were met with some 'It's about times', a few scowls, and some disapproval, but all of that changed when everyone saw how much they cared about each other.

(Full force)
Thinking of you, is all I do,
It's the next best thing
to being with you and baby - hey

(Selena and full force)
Gotta have you (have you), gotta hold you (hold you)
Got to have your lovin' (I gotta have you)
and tell you that I love you
and I really miss you (I miss you)

To her Buffy was the half of her and without her here she was incomplete. She looked down at her finger at the ring Buffy gave her for her birthday. It was a rainy night and Buffy had a night of romance planned. Candles were all over the living room and dinning room. It was totally unexpected, but she loved every minute of it. >From the food to everything else. But what surprised her most was the ring, it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. A gold band with a diamond in the middle surrounded by emeralds. She never took it off of her finger ever since.

I'm missing my baby(missing my baby)
Missing my baby(missing my baby)
gotta have you near right here by my side.
I'm missing my baby(missing my baby)
missing my baby(missing my baby)
gotta hold you tight and never let you out of my sight.
Missing my baby(missing my baby)
Missing my baby(missing my baby)
Gotta feel your heartbeat next to mine

I miss you
Thinking of you, you are always on my mind.

She gave Buffy a matching ring for her birthday as a symbol of love and devotion to only her. She remembered the tears of joy running down her face, it made her so happy to know that she made her happy. They went upstairs to Cordelia's room and showed each other how much they loved each other.

The song ended and Cordelia was openly crying, it didn't hurt this bad when Buffy left the other summers. Maybe it was because she was on the other side of the world, or maybe because Buffy would meet some Spanish Don Juan. She completely rid her mind of that thought. She was committed, and nothing was going to change that. The phone rung bringing her out of her reverie, she answered the phone and a smile graced her features again for the second time that night.

"Hi Buffy."

Missing my baby.
