Resignation
1: Lex
It began in that small town in the heart of Kansas, the beating center of the corn industry, Smallville. He was a kid then, everyone was, and even the adults of the town, even his father were children then. They knew nothing about what was beyond them. Beyond their small universe.
In a heartbeat things changed, the rush of the air and the shake of the ground made him fly through the air like the bird he dreams he could be. He always believed that a man could fly, he did it long ago in the small town of his memory.
Now Lex held the snow globe in his hand, the Empire State Building encased within it. The power that he now had enabled him to do that. He could take those dreams of skyscrapers and flying and own it. Buy it out and possess it.
He let his fingers move across the smooth surface leaving a smudged trace of his fingerprints. The last of the snows fell to the bottom of the globe and stayed there, for once he could see the flaws in the miniature model inside. He had no space for flaws, with a swift swing he threw it across the room in an arc. The snow globe crashed against bulletproof glass and shattered, sending the Empire State Building to the floor.
He had a problem with his temper lately. And he knew exactly how to keep it at bay. "Ms. Sullivan, can you come into my office for just a minute?" he said into his phone. A few seconds later Chloe emerged ready to do his bidding.
2: Chloe
Chloe Sullivan left Smallville after high school and went to Harvard to study Journalism, it was after all what she had wanted all along. But in her second year she found herself bored, restless and tired with what she was doing. Her mind was constantly on a fixed point over her small town. Over his father who may never marry again and will die alone.
But most of the times her mind wandered across Boston and Kansas to Metropolis where Clark and Lana were studying together. Probably living with each other, definitely having sex all the time. Her minds' eye tried to grasp at tangible impressions of life there through the letters Clark constantly sent her, wishing that she was there.
She knew that he was saying it and not meaning it, after all who wanted Gal Friday Chloe when you have Lana Lang to nibble on. She was one of those charity cases you always fix-up on blind dates. She 's been to a few and found that love isn't blind at all. Love is extremely superficial.
She looked at her reflection on the mirror and didn't like what she saw. Thirty year-old, single, no prospect for romance, works as communications manager for Luthor Corp. Metropolis, reports directly to Lex Luthor, arguably the most ruthless man in the world.
Chloe threw water at her face and rubbed hard at the edges where wrinkles were beginning to show. It was sunset and the night was creeping slowly on her face. When she finished retouching her make-up she returned to her office and not one minute later, Mr. Luthor called for her.

He wondered often why he was fascinated with Chloe when he had a whole society of young women, wannabe stars, wannabe models, wannabe socialites, throwing themselves at his feet. Worshipping, kissing the very earth he walked on. They wanted him to take them away to his castle in the sky, his fortress of solitude. Thoughts of the man they call Superman popped in and out of his head. My enemy, he thought. "Ms. Sullivan, how goes the communications department?" he loved mocking her. The division that Chloe was heading was practically useless. He had created it to keep her on a short leash, he didn't know if she knew it but she was in the office only to give him what he wanted.
"Oh, you know how it is Lex," she spoke so willfully, so spitefully that he felt the hatred coming off her skin. She hates me, he thought and that brought a smile to his face. "Very, very busy."
"Good," Lex gestured for her to sit down. She took one of the seats directly across from him, his big mahogany table the only thing between them. "I'd hate to hear that one of our most important divisions is slacking off."
"Just what is my division supposed to be doing then, Mr. Luthor?" Chloe asked nonchalantly. "As I see it the work that my division is supposed to handle is being directed to the public affairs office."
Lex snorted launching off his seat and walking around the table, he put his hands on Chloe's shoulders. "Seriously Chloe, do we have to have this discussion each and every time?"
"Not every time, just when you call me to your office."
"Then as your superior I demand that you stop it," his voice was cool and he began kneading the muscles of her small and delicate shoulders. Involuntarily, Chloe arched forward gasping for air. He bent down and kissed her ear, he blew sensuously into it. "Time to work Ms. Sullivan."
4: Chloe
"Not every time," she said, a little out of her mind. She wanted him to stop, she wanted this whole thing to stop. Chloe didn't graduate with a degree in Journalism to become Lex Luthor's own personal little porn star. She could feel his strong confident hands kneading her shoulder like bread dough that he could easily form and reform. If she wasn't sitting down, she swore might have fallen down. She mouthed something to continue her sentence but by that time her mind had melted away.
She could feel him kissing her ear, he blew into them teasing her, she gasped for air to try to kill off the insane sensation she knew would only lead her to trouble. Lex whispered something to her as he began to unbutton her light blue shirt, moments later she slipped off her shirt and blue blazer.
Her small, firm butt was against the edge of the dark, polished table. Lex kissed her delicately, slowly, meticulously. His kisses were like this, careful. Like the way he does business, never reckless. Chloe moaned into his mouth, he cupped and let his fingers reacquaint themselves with her pert breasts. Her nipples were hard like pebbles, painfully held back like Lex's own erection.
Chloe's frail hands took out the engorge limb from within Lex's dark blue trousers. His shirt, through no power of her own, had been ripped open by the animal that Chloe created to meet Lex. The animal that was now kneeling in front of him, back against the table, and taking the probing faculty of man in her mouth.

He held her hands in his, fingers interlocked as she took him in his mouth. He had a power that was infinite when he was with her. That was the attraction. He could overpower her that easily, she needed him badly.
He made short powerful thrust and felt her resist to gag. Lex pulled her up by the hands and kissed her again, short and shallow, before he bent her waist down. He planted both her hands on the table, before taking his cock and holding it against her soaked panties.
His cruelty made her shiver, he rubbed against her furiously, as she moaned and begged for him to enter her. He fought the urge to do it, like so many other times and succeeded again. He released the climax of his desire on her legs, it ran down against her delicate knees.
He wiped himself with a tissue he got from his desk and gave some to Chloe. She was flushed and furious at him, as always. She cleaned herself up, got dressed and left with saying a word to Lex, who was now back on his chair, watching the progress of the market as if nothing had happened.
6: Chloe
Chloe returned to her office passing by her personal assistant who was busy at work encoding something that will be ignored by Mr. Luthor. She smiled at her weakly, like she knew where she had been and was appalled by it. "Coffee, Ms. Sullivan?" she asked her in her perky, twentysomething voice. "No, thanks," her reply showed the ten year gap between them. Her voice was cracked and distant like an old asphalt road.
She slumped on her sofa and sighed, for all those times she and Lex had met: in his office, in hers, in the elevator, the back of his limo, his apartment, hers. He had kept himself from actually making love with her. She felt as if she had some strange disease that Lex and everyone else knew about.
Her thoughts rolled back to her first time in the distant and quiet memory of the Kent farm. Against the large open window of the barn, the Lang house just a telescope away, Clark Kent had transformed her. She felt them floating in the air, the smell of hay strong like the musk of his sweat in the back of his ear. She had licked skin then and tasted a history, felt the surge of a river as he exploded in her, over her. And she too exploded, flowed out like a blood from an open wound. They melted and she could not forget that.
With Lex, it was different, she was cold and calculated. Although she felt alive at certain moments, the whole thing seemed detached to her, like she was stepping out unto another world for just a moment. The knock on her door pulled her back into reality. She handed her a two page paper that Chloe signed without looking through.
As her personal assistant left she took up her bag and a box full of her personal items. "Be careful," she told her.
