The New Joey And Chandler
"So?" Joey prompted Ross.
"So, what?" Ross asked, eyes still on the tv.
"Monica's gettin' married, dude! You're not the only one in the family anymore!"
Ross looked at Joey witheringly. "Joey, I'm not the only person in my family who's been married."
"Oh yeah?" Joey asked.
"Yeah, dude," Ross said scathingly. "I mean, uh, you know... there's my parents," he finished weakly. "Plus, you know...I think Monica and I have a cousin or something."
"Oh, and two of your ex-wives," Joey added helpfully.
"Yes, and two of my ex-wives. Thank you, Joey," Ross answered.
"But come on, man," Joey said, rising to get another beer. "I mean, it's your sister! And, you know, your old best friend. Before me," he added with a modest grin.
"Heh..." Ross said weakly, standing as well and avoiding Joey's eyes. "Yeah."
Joey's smile vanished. "Dude!" he said, looking scandalized. "We're the new Joey and Chandler, remember?"
"Yeah..." Ross started. "Joey, about that -- "
"Yeah?" Joey asked in a dangerously pouty manner. "What about that?"
"Well, you know, I -- uh...if Chandler's marrying my little sister, it, it might put a damper on our whole 'freezing Chandler out' scheme."
Joey stared at Ross.
"And, you know, you guys used to share an apartment, there's -- there's a lot of history there, do you really want to -- "
"I see what this is about," Joey said slowly, staring at Ross.
"You -- you do?" Ross asked hopefully.
Joey grinned. "You're tryin' to fake Chandler out!" he said. "Yeah, you're gonna make him think we're done freezing him out! And then, one day, when he least suspects it...BAM! Frozen out again."
"Uh, yeah," Ross said. "Yeah. That's right."
"Good thinking, man," Joey grinned, giving Ross a thumbs-up. "Good thinking."
"Well, uh, you know what they say," Ross said with a fake laugh. "'Revenge is a dish best served cold.'"
"Aw, man, we're such a great team!" Joey declared, his third beer forgotten on the counter as he hugged Ross.
And hugged him.
Ross finally hugged Joey back.
And hugged him.
Simultaneously, they both sighed happily, then sprang apart and stared at each other, wide-eyed.
"Hey, I'm gonna go, uh, put our plan into action!" Ross said.
"Yeah! You do that!" Joey said, heading to get the door. They both yelped as their hands brushed against each other, and Joey ran into his bedroom until Ross was gone.
