What You Want
Sirius was going to kill James. He knew, rationally, that it was his own fault he was here, but James should have said something. Should have been a mate and warned him.
Because Sirius would have rather faced Voldemort and his Death Eaters than sit here trying to be civil to his ex-girlfriend while Lily smiled at them indulgently, as if pleased with what she'd wrought.
There were reasons he and Emily hadn't worked out, and high on the list was her inability to just shut up. Sirius wasn't used to sharing the spotlight with anyone but James, and he certainly wasn't going to give it up for Emily LeGrange, who didn't seem to know when silence might be appreciated.
He'd lost the thread of the conversation long ago, something about the new line of robes at Madame Malkin's, and Lily's preference for Muggle clothing, even after eight years in the wizarding world. He was scanning the pub for interesting faces -- faces he knew, faces he might like to know better -- when he saw the most interesting face of all. The face attached to the person who was, in fact, the number one reason he and Emily were no longer together, though neither Emily nor the newcomer knew it.
He surreptitiously tried to catch Remus's eye, but Remus blatantly ignored him, turning instead toward the man behind him. To anyone but Sirius, the gesture would have looked innocent. But Sirius saw the way Remus's hand lingered on the other man's arm, the way he leaned into the other man's body. Sirius felt his stomach clench in jealousy and anger.
When Remus looked his way again, Sirius raised his arm and called out, "Remus! Oi, Lupin, come join us!"
Remus's smile was forced as he and his friend made their way through the crowd to the table where Sirius, Emily, James and Lily sat. As they approached, Sirius recognized the other man; he'd been in Ravenclaw, a year ahead of them, though Sirius couldn't remember his name.
"Lily, James, Emily," Remus said with his usual politeness. The temperature dropped significantly when he said, "Sirius. You remember Kevin O'Connell?"
Of course he did. Bloke looked like he stepped out of an ad for tooth-whitening potion in "Witch Weekly," all blond hair and broad smiles.
O'Connell shook their hands heartily. "Black, Potter. Lily, Emily. Good to see you all. Like old home week, innit?"
Emily, of course, started chattering at O'Connell while Remus snagged chairs from the emptying table behind them.
"Budge over," Remus said, and Sirius scooted his chair over, away from Emily, who didn't seem to notice. "So that's the famous blue raincoat, Lily?" Remus indicated the shiny powder blue coat slung over Lily's chair. "I'm sure you look like a rock star in it."
She beamed at him. "That's what I told James. Debbie Harry has nothing on me."
"Who?" Emily asked.
"Muggle singer. American," Remus answered, but the warmth in his voice was gone, which assuaged Sirius's irritation only slightly.
When O'Connell tried to push his way in between Sirius and Remus, Sirius rose with a barely audible huff. "Need to use the bog."
"He's been like this all night," he heard Lily say apologetically. "I don't know why he's in such a bitchy mood."
He gave it five seconds and then...
"I'll go talk to him," Remus said.
When Remus pushed open the men's room door, Sirius grabbed him by his shirt and pushed him against it, making sure no one else could walk in. He covered Remus's mouth with his own, swallowing whatever half-hearted protest he might have made.
The kiss was rough, urgent, neither of them shy about using their teeth on the tender flesh of lip and tongue.
Sirius dragged his mouth away from Remus's, now red and kiss-swollen, and slid his lips down to Remus's neck, nipping at his collarbone and then licking at the rapid flutter of his pulse in the hollow of his throat. Remus threaded his hands through Sirius's hair, heedless of any knots or tangles; Sirius didn't mind the sting, it just made everything else feel that much sweeter.
"Did you have to bring him here?" Sirius snarled between kisses, hips grinding against Remus's.
"You're the one who wanted to keep this a secret," Remus snapped back, hands already working at Sirius's flies. "You're here with Emily LeGrange."
"You knew--" he gasped as Remus's long, strong fingers wrapped around his cock.
"Lily told me."
"You could have warned me." He managed to undo the buttons on Remus's trousers and push them down over narrow hips.
Remus banged his head against the door as they stroked each other. "I thought it might be what you wanted," he said hoarsely. With his free hand he grabbed Sirius's arse, pulled him closer, so their cocks rubbed against each other, then reached below to roll Sirius's balls between his fingers.
"You don't know anything about what I want," Sirius ground out, thrusting hard into Remus's tight grip.
"That is patently obvious," Remus replied before capturing Sirius's mouth in a fierce kiss.
Sirius closed his eyes and let sensation take him -- the rough, wet heat of Remus's tongue in his mouth; the incredible friction created by the stroke of Remus's hand on his cock; the firm weight of Remus's cock in his hand, hard, slick and hot; the scent of sex in the humid air; and the growling, grunting sounds Remus made as they thrust against each other.
Remus came hard, sucking Sirius's tongue into his mouth and spilling himself over Sirius's hand. The feel of Remus shuddering against him sent Sirius over the edge, bright light sparking behind his eyelids.
This was what Sirius wanted, all he'd ever wanted, really. He'd just been too stupid to realize it.
He pressed Remus back against the door, too relaxed to stand on his own, and nuzzled at his neck. Remus pulled back slightly, and Sirius steeled himself for whatever remark Remus would produce to ruin the moment, but instead, Remus just raised his hand and licked at his fingers. Sirius inhaled sharply, then slid his tongue along Remus's fingers as well, earning a gasp and a feral grin.
"I--" Sirius began, only to be interrupted by the sound of someone pounding on the door.
"Open up in there." James, of course.
"Remus, I--"
"Not now, Sirius," Remus whispered, taking out his wand. "Scourgify."
"Okay, but--" Sirius wasn't going to let him get away so easily this time. "You ditch O'Connell, I'll get rid of Emily. Meet me at my flat."
More banging and shouting. "Oi! I need to piss!"
"Is that what you want?"
For the first time, he didn't have to think before he answered. He leaned forward and brushed his lips over Remus's in a gentle kiss.
"Yes."
