He touched the scars, softly, tenderly, as if he had expected them to fade after so many years. "I...I had forgotten you had these," he whispered, his voice fragile.
Remus opened his eyes, looking at Sirius with a faintly heartsick expression. "I wish I could..." he said in a bittersweet whisper.
Sirius shook his head, cupping Remus's cheek and tracing over one of the scars with his thumb. "Don't," he said. "They're beautiful," he whispered. He leaned in to kiss him, his lips pressed against the scar on Remus's cheekbone.
Remus closed his eyes and kissed Sirius in reply.
