"Wes, I love you."
Wesley's response to Xander's declaration of love was to stare. It certainly wasn't what the younger man had expected.
"I love you," he repeated, hoping that the older man would say something. Still nothing. Xander decided to study the beloved face. There was something in Wesley's eyes that Xander couldn't quite decipher. He recalled the conversations he had with his lover during the past year. Suddenly it came to him. "When was the last someone told you that they loved you?" That got the former watcher to react.
"It's been a while." Wesley tried to make it sound like it wasn't important, but something told Xander it was.
"That's a shame. Luckily for you I'm here to rectify that oversight."
"I wasn't aware words like rectify and oversight were in your vocabulary," Wesley teased the younger man.
"Au contraire. You'd be amazed by the vocab words one can gleam from a few British watchers over the years. I just don't use them all the time. Can you just image the faces of the others if I did?" Xander was rewarded by a slight smile.
"I can imagine."
"I love you, Wes."
"I love you too, Xander."
Xander smiled.
